Ear training

Don’t think i’ve mentioned this before, but every week the lecturer makes us do “ear training”. This involves playing a short piece of music, and slowly boosting a particular frequency, which we then have to guess from eight predefined frequency bands. So for example he’ll play a 10 second clip of a drumkit, boost the low frequencies so the bass drum will get louder, or boost the high frequencies so the cymbals get louder.

The drums is the easy one! The next round he just plays white noise (like when your tuning the radio and your between stations!), and does the same thing - very difficult!
